Spring Township-based Berks Schuylkill Respiratory Specialists Ltd. has entered into a strategic partnership with AblePay Health designed to provide its patients with savings on their out-of-pocket medical costs.
Berks Schuylkill Respiratory Specialists focuses its practice on pulmonary medicine, asthma, and sleep, and conducts clinical research trials. Serving patients in Berks, Montgomery, Schuylkill, Carbon, and eastern Lebanon counties, the practice has affiliations with Tower Health and Penn State Health, providing physician coverage at Reading Hospital, Pottstown Hospital, and St. Joseph Hospital.
“At Respiratory Specialists Ltd., our mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve while working with others who share our commitment to provide high quality, cost-competitive health care services,” Philip Seluchins, chief operating officer, Berks Schuylkill Respiratory Specialists, said in a statement. “When we saw the AblePay platform, we immediately recognized the financial impact this will have for our patients and the practice alike.”
Under the partnership, Respiratory Specialists will bring the AblePay model to its patients.
“Partnering with AblePay not only provides their patients with savings on their out-of-pocket medical costs but provides flexibility to decide how they wish to pay these expenses based on their individual financial needs,” John Fistner, AblePay founder and CEO said in a statement. He added that the program also reduces collection costs for medical providers, “allowing us to improve patient financial wellness while also enhancing the financial well-being of the provider.”
Healthcare consumers can enroll in AblePay’s no-cost program which provides flexible payment terms and convenience with a high level of support for members, the company said in a press release announcing the partnership.
“The business model works to assist both providers and healthcare consumers, strengthening that relationship while benefitting the communities they serve,” the release stated.
According to information on the AblePay website, the program is available to consumers with a primary health insurance in place – including Medicare – to set up payment options for partner providers.
